The DAM Good Chocolate Company creates handcrafted chocolates that are anything but ordinary.
Specializing in handmade customized chocolate bars for both consumers and corporate clients, the business is owned and operated by Chef Chocolatier Valeria Mattos and her daughter Bianca Mattos.
All DAM Good creations are handcrafted in small batches, using high-quality raw ingredients and only the finest Belgian chocolate. They offer inspired chocolate bar collections, personalized chocolates for every occasion, and corporate chocolate solutions for businesses of all sizes.
The DAM Good Chocolate Company came to us as La Chocolaterie. Having already operated a successful chocolate business in their home country of Brazil, the family team were in the process of finding their feet in the United States.
La Chocolaterie already had great products, a manufacturing facility and a growing customer base. Using our marketing consultancy services, we helped them define their target audience, streamline their offer and refine their message.
From our discussions, it became clear that U.S. customers were struggling with the existing name of La Chocolaterie. We provided name suggestions to help them stand out amongst the competition.
The DAM Good Chocolate Company was born! The new name embodies their inventiveness and playful personality, whilst also clearly stating the purpose of the business. As an added touch, their pride in being a family business is plain to see: DAM stands for Daughters and Mother!
We created a logo and branding package to showcase the fresh new name. Inspired by the art of chocolate making, we began with a sophisticated, natural color palette. We then added accent colors that are feminine and playful, to echo both the company name and the enthusiasm of the owners.
We chose a characterful font and customized it to bring even more personality. We paired this with softer complementary fonts that fit the modern branding.
The logo combines strong, bold typography with hand-drawn, artistic lettering to create a visually pleasing juxtaposition. The textural elements make the logo look like it’s been handcrafted with care, in just the same way that the delicious chocolates are made.
As an added touch, the diamonds represent the Mattos daughters, the three jewels in their mom’s life. The combined creativity, determination and intelligence of Mom and daughters have been fundamental to the success of the company.
We carried this new branding through a variety of collateral pieces, including business cards and trifolds. We also created a compelling brand story that the DAM Good Chocolate family can use across all of their marketing efforts, and a brand style guide that will help them use their new branding consistently and effectively across their website, new chocolate bar designs, event materials, and more.
We provided website consultancy to recommend ways to improve upon their existing online presence. We created strategic website content for key pages on the website, and wrote blogs to generate added interest and to establish credibility.
